Demographics:
We travelled to this resort with the family: 3 kids aged 9,11,13, us and grandma and grandpa. It's an incredibly family-friendly resort so it was the perfect spot for us. An important note: this is in no way related to the famous “Mar-a-Lago” resort of similar name (haha).
The Area:
Located directly on a beautiful beach and within a short drive from the cruise port, the location is convenient and beautiful. The beach is wide with lovely soft sand. The waves were rolling a bit while we were there (early Jan) but the kids were still able to swim and even do some body surfing. The water was quite comfortable, considering it was only around 22 degrees, and everyone was able to go in. This would be a great resort to round out your cruise vacation due to it's proximity to the port.
The Resort:
This resort is U-shaped around the central pool with all rooms facing inwards with decent views of the beach as well. It's a bit older but very well maintained. It is NOT an all-inclusive but it definitely has that vibe. Most things do need to be charged to your room which enhances the all-inclusive feeling.
The resort includes a slightly run-down mini golf area, a playground, basketball, pickleball and tennis, all available with no charge.
The Rooms:
Rooms were spacious and clean. I'm hesitant to say they needed updating because they were well-maintained, but it did feel a bit like stepping back into a different era. But our suite had tons of space, comfortable beds and enough of a kitchen that we were able to make breakfast every day to save on cost.
The Pool:
The single pool is very large and clean. The resort actually provides some pool and beach toys for the kids for no cost including boogie boards and balls. There are lots of chameleons and iguana's just hanging out which made for a fun hunt for the kids.
Food and Drinks:
Again, this resort is not all-inclusive and so, especially with the exchange rate, was typically expensive. It was all delicious and kid-friendly. We discovered that eating outside by the pool was a fun way to play and eat at the same time while also saving money.
Entertainment:
On weekends, there is an excellent one-man band for most of the afternoon and evening. And with so many free toys included, it's easy to entertain the family for a few days.
